FAQs
How fast can I get a quote?
Most quotes are turned around the same day. Complex risks may take 24–48 hours.
Do you compare multiple carriers?
Yes. We are independent and shop hundreds of carriers to find your lowest qualified rate.
Can I bundle this with other coverage?
Absolutely — bundling often unlocks meaningful discounts. Ask your specialist about packaging.
Every standard property policy excludes flood
Homeowners forms and commercial property forms both exclude rising water. A storm that damages your roof and floods your first floor produces one covered claim and one uncovered one unless a flood policy is in place.
Most flood policies carry a waiting period before coverage takes effect, commonly 30 days for new NFIP policies outside of a loan closing. Buying during a storm watch is too late, which is why we review flood exposure at renewal instead of in season.
Flood maps are not a guarantee
A substantial share of flood claims come from properties outside high risk zones. Being outside a mapped zone lowers the rate, it does not remove the exposure, and lenders can require coverage after a remap.

Building versus contents
Two separate limits. Buying only building coverage leaves equipment and inventory bare.
NFIP or private
Private markets can exceed NFIP limits and add business income, at different terms.
Waiting period
Typically 30 days for new NFIP policies, so timing is part of the decision.
Elevation documentation
An elevation certificate can materially change the rate on a commercial property.
Which policy responds to storm damage
| Scenario | Property or homeowners | Flood policy |
|---|---|---|
| Wind removes the roof | Covered | Not applicable |
| Rising water enters the building | Excluded | Covered |
| Contents and equipment ruined by water | Excluded | Covered if contents coverage was purchased |
Questions motor carriers ask
Is flood covered by homeowners or commercial property insurance?
No. Both standard forms exclude flood. Coverage requires a separate NFIP or private flood policy for the building, the contents, or both.
How long before flood coverage takes effect?
New NFIP policies commonly carry a 30 day waiting period, with limited exceptions such as a loan closing. Private markets vary, so confirm the effective date before a storm forms.
Do trucking terminals need flood insurance?
Terminals, shops and yards in or near flood prone areas do, especially where lenders require it. Call 855-643-3881 and we will review your location and elevation data.

Fleets of three or more power units across the 50 states we are licensed in.
Flood Damage coverage across the 50 states we serve
Filing requirements, limits and endorsements change from state to state. Our specialists review your lanes, loss history, FMCSA safety rating and shipper requirements before recommending flood damage limits, then walk you through every policy decision in plain language.
We work with regional fleets, long haul carriers, owner-operators running under their own authority and first year new authority trucking companies. When your fleet crosses state lines, we structure the program so it stays compliant in every jurisdiction you run.
As an independent agency we do not answer to one carrier. We answer to you, which means we can move your account when a carrier pushes an unjustified renewal increase.
Who needs flood damage coverage?
Flood Damage coverage is for commercial motor carriers whose contracts, lenders or regulators require it, and for fleets that could not absorb the loss out of pocket. A Prestige specialist reviews your operation and returns options from A rated carriers, usually the same business day. Call 855-643-3881.
