What is the difference between standard and specialty commercial auto?

Standard markets write predictable operations with clean loss history inside a published appetite. Specialty markets, often excess and surplus lines, write the operations that fall outside it: heavy haul, unusual commodities, adverse losses, or new ventures. Specialty policies can carry different forms, conditions, and deductibles, which is why offers should be compared on terms and not only price.

Can a fleet with recent at fault losses still get quoted?

Often yes, when the submission is complete and honest. Underwriters want the loss runs, a written explanation of each significant loss, and evidence of what changed afterward, such as new hiring standards, cameras, or terminated drivers. Pricing reflects the record, and availability depends on the markets open at the time.

How many trucks do I need to qualify for a fleet program?

Prestige Trucking Insurance focuses on fleets of three or more power units. Many specialty fleet programs begin at that point, and rating treatment usually changes again once a fleet passes ten to fifteen units.

How long does a specialty fleet placement take?

Plan on 30 to 90 days before the effective date. Fast track markets can return indications quickly once the file is complete, while heavy haul and excess layers usually take longer because more than one underwriter reviews the risk.
