Will my insurer require access to dashcam footage after a crash?

Most policies require cooperation in the investigation, which in practice includes relevant footage. Preserve the clip immediately after any accident and route it through your written release policy so nothing is lost to automatic overwriting.

How long should we retain dashcam video?

Set a written retention period that fits your storage plan, commonly 30 to 90 days for routine footage, and preserve event and accident clips indefinitely until the claim and any litigation are closed.
